The Story of My Life - Part 1

Where do I begin my story?

Once upon a time, there was a cute flute player in the marching band and a former football player with glasses...my mom and dad. Things didn't really go according to their plan (but God sure had a plan!) and suddenly my mom was pregnant with me. In high school. They decided to keep me (yay!) and got married.

My mom has always there for me, and her mom (my grandma) has always been there too.  I don't remember much about my dad when I was really little except he was grouchy and made us chocolate cake.  We even had a song, "Daddy's great, he makes us chocolate cake!"

Who is this "we"? My sister Gail came a little less than two years later. I still remember watching her in the hospital, and watching her become a woman with her own dreams and goals has been amazing. She just recently graduated from pharmacy school and I'm so proud of her!!!

My mom let us stay up with her and watch tv when dad was away on business. Along with cartoons, I remember watching MTV music videos. I remember how rough our couch felt on my bare legs. I remember getting chicken pox. My sister and I ran around outside all day, playing on the swing set, building forts, and playing house. Inside, we would climb inside the laundry basket and roll each other down the hallway. Cabbage Patch Kids, Barbies and My Little Ponies were some of our favorite toys...they are making a comeback, LOL! We also had a dog, a sheltie named Lady, of "Lady and the Tramp" fame.  I loved that dog!

My sister and I were baptized together in matching dresses at the Catholic church in Trenton. They were red and white print, with white aprons which were super hip at the time. She's always had more hair than me too, a beautiful dark red with curls.

For me, baptism was a profound beginning in my life. I just didn't know it then.
